Doctors in this clinic

All doctors

When should you see an orthopedic doctor?

  • Lower back or neck pain
  • Knee pain or stiffness
  • Shoulder pain or trouble lifting your arm
  • A sprained ankle or wrist
  • Sports injuries
  • Numbness or tingling running down an arm or leg
  • Heel pain
  • Follow-up after a fracture or cast

What happens at an orthopedic appointment?

The doctor asks how the pain started, whether there was an injury, and which movements make it better or worse. They then examine the joint or spine, checking movement and strength. Wear loose, comfortable clothes so the area can be uncovered and moved easily.

If an image is needed, the X-ray department is inside the polyclinic. Many muscle and joint problems improve with guided exercise, so the doctor may refer you to the physiotherapy department in the same building, without you having to travel elsewhere.

When should you go to emergency after an injury?

Don’t wait for a clinic appointment after a serious injury. Call the Saudi Red Crescent on 997 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department for:

  • A clearly deformed limb or bone through the skin
  • Being unable to put weight on your foot after a fall
  • Back pain with leg weakness or loss of bladder or bowel control
  • A neck injury after an accident (don’t move the person; call 997)
  • A hot, swollen joint together with fever

Common questions

Do I need to bring an X-ray to my appointment?

No. The doctor decides after examining you whether an image is needed, and X-rays can be taken inside the polyclinic. If you already have scans or reports from elsewhere, bring them along so the doctor can compare.

Does all back pain need an X-ray or MRI?

No. Most new lower back pain improves within a few weeks and doesn’t need imaging at first. The doctor will request it if there are warning signs or the pain persists. If an MRI is advised, ask our team whether it is available.

Should I see a doctor about a sprained ankle?

Mild sprains are common and usually improve within days. See the orthopedic doctor if you can’t walk on the foot, the swelling and bruising are marked, or the pain isn’t easing, as a torn ligament or a fracture may need an X-ray.

This page is general information, not a substitute for seeing a doctor. In a life-threatening emergency, call the Saudi Red Crescent on 997 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department. For other urgent problems, our emergency department is open 24 hours.
